FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation begins operations
May 1, 2004
Established in 2003, Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation is now accepting
wildlife at their facility which operates from a property
along the Flint Creek in the greater Barrington, Illinois area.
Flint Creek Wildlife is dedicated to the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned
wildlife with the goal of returning fully rehabilitated wildlife to its natural
habitat. Flint Creek Wildlife promotes respect for wildlife and wildlife
habitats through public education programs.
Flint Creek Wildlife was founded by Dawn Keller to
help provide much needed rehabilitation services in Northeast Illinois. Ms.
Keller has a passion for animals. She has worked with abused animals,
provided foster homes for cats and dogs, and has volunteered with the raptor
program at the Spring Brook Nature Center in Itasca, Illinois. Ms. Keller left
corporate life to fulfill her dream of providing rehabilitation services to
injured and orphaned animals. Ms. Keller plans to develop Flint Creek
Wildlife into a premier facility working with all animal species in the area. She
is seeking a
larger property that will support Flint Creek Wildlife's longer term growth.
Flint Creek Wildlife has been granted a wildlife
rehabilitation permit by the State of
Illinois allowing them to accept all mammals except for skunks and bats which
are prohibited by law. Flint Creek Wildlife is one of a few facilities
in Northeast Illinois permitted to accept White Tailed Deer for rehabilitation. The
state permit also allows them to accept some birds including sparrows and
starlings. They
are in the process of obtaining federal permits for rehabilitating migratory
song birds and raptors.
Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation.
